Overview

Much of the new growth is in personal vehicles and trucks, but there is also increased interest in buses and other heavy vehicles.
As of December 31, 2014, the government only authorizes the importation of vehicles one year old or newer.  This means that the Bolivian fleet is extremely divided between new vehicles and significantly older ones.

Leading Sub-Sectors

Cars, trucks, and buses and their associated maintenance equipment and spare parts are all markets that are growing.
Tractors, cycles and other land vehicles, along with their parts and accessories, are also growing markets.

Opportunities

U.S. companies can export new vehicles, as well as vehicle-related services, maintenance, and spare parts for older models.
Bolivia imports almost all of its road construction equipment and materials, and there are opportunities for U.S. companies to export equipment for road construction.  Because of the varied topography, road construction in Bolivia is one of the most expensive in the region, generally costing the government between $1 million and $1.5 million per kilometer.    At least one U.S. company is beginning to see success selling road construction technology to Bolivia.
