Overview:

The Bahamas relies on imports of practically the full range of consumer products to meet the needs of its population and the over 6 million tourists, mostly from the United States, that visit the islands each year.  U.S. products enjoy a reputation for high quality.  Bahamian consumers are brand-conscious and prefer brands they are familiar with from frequent buying trips to the United States or from American TV programs and commercials.  
As U.S. products are already widely available in The Bahamas, new entrants may find it challenging to find a niche among other U.S. products in a competitive market.  Another source of consumer-oriented products is China.
