Direct marketing in Egypt, such as catalog sales or online sales, is also advancing as the use of credit cards gains increasing acceptance.  In addition, the risks from mail and warehouse theft are decreasing along with high customs duties.  Purchasing goods through the Internet is growing for the same reasons – greater acceptance and lower costs.  The Egyptian government encourages e-commerce and passed e-commerce legislation and an e-signature law to support it in 2004.
