Per the latest State Department travel information at the time of this writing, a passport, visa, and evidence of yellow fever vaccination are required for entry. Airport visas are not available, and visitors to the Republic of Congo will need to obtain their visas in advance of travel.  A letter of invitation and/or written proof of a hotel reservation are required in order to apply for a visa. This letter should be stamped by the Direction Départementale de la Surveillance du Territoire (DDST) in the Republic of Congo. Your local sponsor should arrange this for you. This letter should be available for presentation to immigration officials upon arrival in the Republic of Congo. When entering Brazzaville, it is a common practice for a nurse to perform an infrared temperature scan before immigration. Upon entry, you will be required to present your vaccination card (yellow card).

The Democratic Republic of Congo’s (DRC) capital Kinshasa is located across the Congo river from Brazzaville.  It is advisable to obtain a visa for the DRC in the U.S.

Additional information on entry requirements may be obtained from the Embassy of the Republic of Congo, 1720 16th Street, NW, Washington DC 20009, telephone (202) 726-5500, web site or from the Permanent Mission of the Republic of Congo to the United Nations, 14 E. 65th St., New York, NY, 10021, telephone (212) 744-7840. Overseas inquiries should be made at the nearest Congolese embassy or consulate.

U.S. companies that require travel of foreign businesspersons to the United States should be advised that security evaluations are handled via an interagency process. Visa applicants should go to the following links.
