Discusses the legal requirements for selling to the host government, including whether the government has agreed to abide by the WTO Government Procurement Agreement or is a party to a government procurement chapter in a U.S. FTA. Specifies areas where there are opportunities.

  • Government procurements are issued in accordance with the Beninese procurement code.  Tenders from the central government and state-owned enterprises are announced in major newspapers, particularly in the state owned newspaper “La Nation,” and posted on the website of public tenders. Bidders are required to submit proposals in French.
  •  The U.S. Embassy may assist with verification of the legitimacy of tenders from the Government of Benin. There have been instances of fraudulent claims to issue non-existent tenders.
