International airlines serving São Tomé include TAP Portugal, Angola Airlines (TAAG), STP Airways, Ceiba Intercontinental and Afric Aviation.  There are no direct flights to the United States.  Direct flights to Lisbon are available three times a week.  There are also direct flights to several major cities in Central and West Africa.

STP International Airport is a few kilometers from downtown.  Major roads in STP are improved but many secondary roads are unimproved. There are two airports in STP, one in the capital of São Tomé and one in Santo Antonio, Príncipe Island.  STP Airways is the only airline currently providing domestic flights.
Taxis and car rentals are available in STP.  Major hotels offer shuttle service to and from the international airport.
