Internet service in Gabon is reliable and not expensive.  According to the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), Gabon rose 10 places in 2017 in the world ICT classification and is now the sixth most-connected country on the African continent.  With World Bank financing, Gabon has developed an expanded fiber optic network.  The government investments have led to a tenfold price drop since 2010, dropping from CFAF 10,000/month in 2012 to CFAF 1,500/month today for the basic Internet service (that is, from $18 to $2.80).  There has been a sevenfold increase in the number of subscribers over the same period.  High speed fiber optic service can cost $45,000/month ($80).  Some providers now offer a 4G flat-rate package (with a 1 GB usage limit per 30 days) for only CFAF 4,000.
