Cote d’Ivoire has a liberal economic system based on supply and demand although a few sectors are subject to licensing:

  • Telecommunication sector ($167 million for mobile phone network license); cocoa and coffee export (a bank guarantee of $334,000); petroleum; mining; import of medical products and equipment. 
  • The GOCI recently announced the end of the monopoly in water and electricity distribution. However, the details and legal provisions have yet to be provided.
